Des Moines, Ia. – Grand View Athletic Director Troy Plummer announced today that Tina Carter has been named head women’s volleyball coach for the Vikings. Carter comes to Grand View after serving as the assistant women’s coach at Iowa State and Drake. She has coached for the Iowa Power Volleyball Alliance (IPVA) and serves on the Iowa Region board.

“I am extremely happy that Tina Carter has agreed to become the next head volleyball coach at Grand View College.Her experience as a coach and player as well as her personal character and leadership skills make her the perfect fit for our program. She has the contacts and the drive to be a very successful recruiter and I am confident the student-athletes will thrive under her guidance,” said Plummer.

During her two seasons at Iowa State, the Cyclones qualified for the NCAA tournament for the first time in ten years and advanced to the second round.

Carter played her college career at Southern Methodist University on a full athletic scholarship. She captained the SMU volleyball team and was a member of the Academic All-SWAC Team.

“I am very excited and honored to have been selected as the next head volleyball coach at Grand View College. It was clear to me during my visit how much enthusiasm and support everyone has for the school and its future. I’m very impressed with the commitment and support for the volleyball program. My goal is to be the kind of role model that will help the student-athletes grow and develop during their tenure at GVC. I can’t wait to meet the team, begin setting goals, for next season and get on the court.The Viking volleyball program has the potential to be a great program and perennial contender,” said Carter.

Carter graduated from the Southern Methodist University in 1998 with a degree in Psychology. She completed her Master of Education Degree in Sports Management from Iowa State University in 2001.

Carter resides in Des Moines with her husband Scott and their daughter Lauren.
