Des Moines, Iowa - The Midwest Collegiate Conference has announced it volleyball All-Conference honors. Twenty-six athletes were recognized as part of the All-Conference Teams as voted by the coaches; twelve to the First Team and fourteen to the Honorable Mention Team.

For the second consecutive year, William Penn University senior setter Sheila Mercado (San Sebastian, Puerto Rico) was voted as the MCC Player of the Year. Mercado led the in assists per game (10.8) and was second in assists (324). She was named the MCC Setter of the Week seven times this fall.

For the second consecutive year, St. Ambrose senior forward Greg Lehman (Davenport, Ia.) was voted as the MCC Player of Year. Lehman lead the MCC in nearly every offensive statistical category in 2008: goals (1^st - 14), goals per game (1^st - 2.0), points (1^st - 30), points per game (1^st - 4.29), game-winning goals (3^rd - 2), shots (1^st - 40), and shots per game (1^st  - 5.71). He was named MCC Offensive Player of the Week three times this fall and led the Fighting Bees to their first NAIA Championship berth.

Viterbo senior forward Ashley Sorenson (Reedsburg, Wis.) was selected as the MCC Player of the Year. Sorenson lead the MCC in nearly every offensive statistical category in 2008: goals (1^st - 11), goals per game (1^st - 1.38), points (1^st - 23), points per game (1^st - 2.88), game-winning goals (1^st - 3), shots (1^st - 41), and shots per game (1^st - 5.12). She was the MCC Offensive Player of the Week four times this fall.
